Tamara James, Mitigation Specialist
Tamara James is a Forensic Social Worker who has been working in the criminal justice system for almost ten years. She began working as a sentencing advocate for people with severe mental illness while living in Florida. Over the years this evolved to include those who suffer with addiction as well. Tamara furthered her knowledge of addiction while in graduate school and bolstered this with practical clinical experience. Graduate school trained Tamara to conduct biopsychosocial histories while being able to examine the contexts in which the individual developed.
Capital mitigation became Tamara's focus when she moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 2005. Here, she was able to apply her previous experiences to assist capital attorneys in preparation for, or in some cases, to avoid trial.
